What a year. Did anyone else feel completely unprepared??
Even those of us who thought we were fully self-sufficient had to dodge some curveballs.
Toilet paper? Gone. Restaurants? Closed. Jobs? Lost.
I just wanted something I could count on. That might actually keep me fed. And maybe even lift my spirits.
But then I remembered something my grandpa once told me about when I was younger called “victory gardens” that became popular after the Second World War.
The hope was that they would feed citizens while also boosting morale.
So after hours of research, I found the modern-day victory garden.
It’s called the SeedSheet, and it’s been my first major step towards really relying on myself for nourishment even without any real gardening experience (or yard) at all.
Read on to take a closer look at this DIY kit that makes growing your own herbs easy and delicious.
So What is the SeedSheet?
The SeedSheet is a super-simple grow-it-yourself herb garden.
It’s a lightweight “sheet” that holds ready-to-grow seeds for six different herbs. You’ll get to grow:
- Basil
- Cilantro
- Parsley
- Dill
- Onion Greens
- Sorrel
My research also opened my eyes to the importance of eating organic, so I was so happy to see that each and every herb is 100% organic.
The SeedSheet Makes it Ridiculously Easy to Grow Your Own Food
The SeedSheet wasn’t designed for experienced gardeners. It’s ready to go for people like you and me or even people with a completely “black thumb”.
- First, you add some soil to the planting container — this (and everything else you need) is all included for you.
- Second, place the SeedSheet seed side down, so that the seeds are now touching the soil.
- Third, water the seed pods! There’s a special misting nozzle included to help you do it.
And voila!
Your New Garden Will Also Tell You How to Care For It (Literally!)
I can’t tell you how helpful it has been that the SeedSheet comes with an app that talks to you. It becomes your little garden sidekick, and walks you through the whole process.
From “seed to supper” the app has you covered with everything from water schedules to recipe suggestions and much much more.
Not to mention, the app is FREE to use and easy to use.
I Finally Feel Like I Can Count on Myself With the SeedSheet.
This new source of nourishment has been rewarding in more ways than one.
Of course, it’s wonderful having fun and trying new flavors, but there’s a newfound sense of independence I’ve gained.
There’s a certain pride in going to pick from a garden that YOU YOURSELF have grown.
And I also realized, which made me even more proud, that each tiny herb pod produces nearly $100 of produce!
I don’t even WANT to know how much this would cost buying it each time individually in the grocery store.
Not to mention how good it feels just to not have to rely on the grocery stores so much.
This money I saved also helps me feel more prepared and independent in other areas of my life.
If you’re trying to best arm yourself against an uncertain future, I believe in padding your wallet a little bit.
From Balconies to Backyards
I can see exactly why victory gardens helped so much during World War II.
SeedSheet’s flavors and scents have been an enormous morale boost, but it’s also given me a sense that I can take on any challenge and feel ready.
The planter and herbs themselves have truly lit up my balcony, where I set the garden up.
The green, lush flavors have added such a wonderful ambiance and remind me of how capable I am of taking care of myself.
Take Control of Your Food
If you can’t already tell, the SeedSheet has brought a lot into my life.
There’s a sense of pride I feel every time I serve a dish I know I prepared from the ground-up. Literally!
I love that my body is getting the nourishment it needs to be ready to face the day. I like that I can even make my own medicine in some ways!
I also can’t help but pat myself on the back to think of sharing this garden as somewhat of a humanitarian mission.
It has just helped me so much and given me such confidence in my capabilities that I feel it’s my duty to tell as many people as possible about it.
I want you to be able to rely on yourself as well.
You, like me, can take care of yourself and grow your own food easily!
